Field Trip to the PLANETARIUM

The third graders were studying planets and because I am in a mixed class we all got to go to the planetarium. On our way, I sat next to my best friend Leon. Leon’s mom was driving us for this field trip. We were going to San Mateo College Planetarium. At first I was curious about the planetarium but when we got there it looked very boring, it was all white on the outside and there was nothing to do. We had to wait a long time outside before we got in.

Finally when we got in it looked very cool – it looked like a theater and the theater part was a dome. But everything we did was not cool at all. We were given special glasses which are used by astronomers. These glasses help identify the kind of gas a star is made up of – neon, helium and hydrogen are some of those gases. Then we watched a movie which showed How the Universe began – Did you know that the whole universe was created with a ‘BIG BANG’? Then it talked about all of the galaxies and planets in our Solar System. It also talked about the asteroid belt and the stars. I thought it was really interesting to learn about the stars but everything else I didn’t care much about. I also have a planet puzzle which I never liked.

My Piggy Bank Pops and Graduates

One day my dad told me and my brother to race to a thousand dollars to get more dollars. I knew that my piggy bank wouldn't hold a thousand dollars - so I got a bank account inside Citibank.

The first time I deposited $140 which I got from my dad and my grandmother. I plan to save all my money inside the bank.

Saving money is a good thing and I hope you will do too.

My Field Trip to Woodside Store

My second field trip from school at Woodside Store was the best! (My first field trip before I started blogging was Redwood Grove Nature preserve). After reading in class we got to go in the school bus to the Woodside Store. My whole class went and I sat next to Leon, my friend.

Once we got there we had to wait long to do the activities, so we ate our snacks. Outside we started playing with toys that children played with when the store was made. When we finally got in we watched a slide show on all the people that came before us. Then we did a treasure hunt where we had to get the right object that was hidden in the store. Then we split up into three groups for three activities - being a shopkeeper from before, cutting wood shingles, and washing clothes like before. We first washed clothes and hanged them to dry. Then we got to be shopkeepers and get all of the things on the customer's list unlike today where the customer has to bring their own stuff. If you wanted a shirt you would have to take length and width and then give it to the shopkeeper - shopkeeper will give it to San Francisco who makes the T-shirt. Then we went into Doctor Trips and dentist office and we got to see some real teeth that were found underneath the store. Then we made shingles outside to make the roof of the house or store by smashing a big piece of wood on to a saw then the saw cuts a shingle off. After that we had to go back to school.

I really liked the store and the activities because it was Kreative just like me!!!!

My Sick Kristmas

It all started from the last day of school. It was super rainy and I got wet because I didnt have a jacket. The next thing I knew was I got sick with the FLU. I went straight into the bed when I got home - sneezing, coughing and wheezing. Nani gave me a special kind of tea to drink. I laid in bed the whole time, I never got up and never ate anything - I was feeling horrible.

Next morning I felt a bit better but my brother and my mom got sick. That meant I gave everyone the flu. Soon every one was sick in the house including me, papa and nani. The next day was Christmas and we all had to sleep inside our beds.

Next morning I looked under the christmas tree, I found presents that I already had. Then we had to go to our christmas party at JoyMa's house. When we got their I slept the whole time and missed the rest of my christmas.

I had a very bad christmas and never want a christmas like this again.

The Formation of DJ Fools

On Tuesday when I got the basketball at recess, Leon wanted to take the ball too. But when I went to the playground Leon asked me if we could play with the ball together. Then I asked if we could be friends. He said only if we could make a team. I said O.K. We only had us two in the team. I asked if we could name the team. Leon said every team needs a name. DJ FOOLS !!!! I shouted. Leon said that was a good team name.

Later, I met with Nicky while I was waiting to go home. I asked if he wanted to be friends. He said yes. Just then my mom came. I asked Nicky if he wanted to be part of DJ Fools. Yes was the answer. Then we both walked home.

The Life-Sized Game of Candyland

I looovvvve candies!!!!! Every time I see sweets I go for it. I also love to play the game of Candyland. One day inside my Wednesday envelope I got invited to a life-sized game of Candyland. Of course I had to go for it so I begged my Dad to take me.

On that day, my dad and I drove to the King’s community center in San Mateo. The line was very long to start the game. We saw a magician while waiting in the line who played different tricks. Once we got in they put a smiley face on my ticket. I had to take off my shoes to work on the live game-board. We entered the game and I had to jump on the color when it was called out. At each place we got to play a game and got a prize. At the ginger bread plum tree we had to throw a small bean bag on the tic-tac-toe board. At peppermint forest we played ring-toss. After the game we got a big candy cane. At gum-drop mountain we had to throw pennies at a huge gum-drop. Then I got a small candy cane. At licorice castle we got to play bull’s eye and got a piece of licorice. At peanut brittle house we bowled and got a wrist-band. At lollipop woods I played basketball and got a lollipop. At cream lake I played hockey and got bubbles. At molasses swamp we got to throw ball in a basket and gloppy gave some putty. At candy palace we got to play golf and King Kandy gave a gumball. Then we got into the palace to play games and do art.

First I got a picture with Santa. He gave me another candy cane. Then I made some reindeer food which was made of 4 things – sugar for helping, sparkles for seeing, wheat for main food, and raisins to help fly better. Then I got face painting of monkey on the side of my face. After that I made a X-mas card for my little sister and also made a bracelet. After that we ate lunch at Taco Bell and went home. This was one of my bestest days I ever had!

My Baby Sister Simran

One day at 5:30 am I had to go to the hospital to get a new baby. When we got there I saw on a paper what the baby was doing – there were some ink prints that looked like mountains. We waited till the doctor said it was time for surgery.

My dad had to wear a nurse suit to get in the surgery room. I got some of the nurse suit too but didn’t go inside the surgery room. At first we did not know what the baby is going to be - a boy or girl? We never knew until the surgery was over - we saw the nurse cleaning then my dad came out of the surgery room. My dad told us that it was a GIRL!!!!! Everyone was very excited to hear the news. My dad took Simi to clean her again this time we got to see her close up. Then we left the baby alone.

We went to see mummy she was laying in a bed.We were late for school so we left the hospital when we got to school we got a tardy slip when we got out we went to our friend’s house. Our friend took us to the hospital again we saw mummy laying down and we got truffles. We also touched the baby, she was soft when we touched her. Then we had to go back to our friends house to sleep.

School Library: My Favorite Place in School

I love to go to my school's library at lunch recess. This is the only time that I can go there to draw. Drawing is my second love (reading is my first). Today I made 4 monsters and a paper plane. I named the monsters Treetop, Froglike, Alienstar and Yo. My plane works for 3 different airlines - Star Airlines, Tornado Airlines and Sun Airlines.

I also go to the library to get books. I borrow the books and take them home. I go there every wednesday to get the books. Although, I can go there anytime once I am finished with my work in class. I started with Zack Files books this year. I also like to take the Magic Tree House books but now I have read them all.

Sometime I spend time in the reference section to help do my class projects. When I write, I circle words which I think are spelled wrong and then I use the dictionary to find the word. Last year, I had to do a project on Bears and I used the animal reference books for the story I was writing.

Sometimes I go to the library to help other people do their work. I help them understand the questions and figure out the answers.

Because of all these reasons the Library is one of my most favorite places in the school.

Father's Day without Dad

This time on Father's day my dad was not there. He went to Carolina on a business trip. He saw US Open Golf Championship on his visit. We waited for him 3 days. Monday he came back. We were very excited to see my dad. I went home with my dad. We ate a father's day cake. It was very very very yummy. I gave him a cookie. He slept with me that night. It was very fun. I am glad he came home and then celebrated father's day with us.
